Eons ago, the world was basked in light and health. Humans lived in a mutual understanding of their wild brothers the were-creatures. Yet some of the humans were not so kind as they let on to their nation. They set out to make a weapon to kill the were-beasts for they were jealous of their innate powers. They succeeded in a weapon over time, yet it had fallen into the hands of a madman who in the end had cursed the human race with his greed for the power of the were creatures. They were imbedded with the traits of spiders... silk, grace, and venom. No longer a normal human alive these arachnid humanoids were enchanting beyond belief and all hungered for a feast- finding it in the animals and beasts they enchanted with their beautiful faces and crystal voices. The other were-creatures had fallen into the spider's webs, even the wolves were no exception. However, being pack based they realized the losses before the solitary animals had and became untrusting of the beautiful hunters. They disappeared into their secret places to band together and find ways to combat the glorious foes- the strength coming from their numbers and their forgotten were-powers. No, on their own the arachnids were far greater in strength but as a unit the pack could force the spiders back into their old cities and reclaim the wild for the wolves. Now the packs must decide if they want to hold the spiders back and never venture out of their boarders, or become the spear head for a retaliation and destroy the spider nest and never deal with the monstrosities again. And that my friend is where you come in...
For it was always the fate of individuals to change the world...

For better.
Or worse.

|| PACK LIFE ||
Its all about survival

:x: HUNTING;
When wolves hunt alone- they are rarely successful. But as an organized pack they all have a better chance to capture something large enough to fill everyone's bellies. I hope to have at least one group hunt every month or so. Not all will be successful, and the pray animal will be some random NPC. Now, if your pack does not even attempt to hunt then its very likely that one wolf picked at random will have to spend some time trapped as a spider captive or end up weakening the pack from malnourishment. Either way, something bad may happen to the pack and each member would be expected to rp it out.
I'm not saying you can't hunt outside of the main hunt- but: more then likely you will fail alone. And you wouldn't be able to take on a healthy bull moose or deer on your own either. please at least be semi realistic.

:x: MUTATIONS OVER TIME;
The first wolves were fairly average in comparison to the ones inhabiting Einmana. Some had extra gifts that aided them in the pack or had no effect at all. These gifts were really genetic mutations, and with out the selective breeding they were lost from sight or over looked as a novelty.
As soon as the spiders showed up on the scene, things were different. Those with skills that helped insure their survival were passed on to their children, and so on and so forth. So in certain packs a unique abilities started getting stronger so that normally any wolf born into a clan will have some sort of ability. In order of dominance from strongest to weakest in a dominance: Radar hearing, Pack Telepathy, Eyes of Truth. That does not mean that any is stronger then the other, it just shows what is most likely going to appear in offspring between two different mutations.
It is not yet known if there are other traits in different parts of einmana, or even why only one trait shows up if the parents of one pup each have different mutations. However the wolves finally realize the potential of their unique talents.

|Radar Hearing| They can hear almost anything with in a 1 mile radius.
|Pack Telepathy| Can only make contact with other members in the same pack, and can only hear back from them if the owner of the talent initiates the conversation
|Eyes of Truth| Ability to tell between a lie and truth.

:x: THE CIRCLE OF LIFE;
This is based on 1 real life week = 1 in game season so 1 real life month = 1 in game year

  • A pregnant mother will wait a year in her primal (aka normal wolf form) until she is able to bear her offspring and they are weaned.
  • A pup will stay with its mother for 6 months until it is ready to start joining in on pack functions.
  • After turning one year old the pups are considered adults
  • When they turn three they are able to shift and bear young of their own.
  • After twenty years they must pass on to the after life.

:x: PRIMAL VS SHIFTED;
When a wolf is on all fours they are in their primal form. The most basic form and best for pack functions like hunting or battles with the spiders. Primal is also the form that females have to be in when they bear offspring, shifting when pregnant would alter the unborn pups forms before they were fully developed and end up sending the mother into early labor for pups that end up dead in the process.
Shifted form is the best for individual battles and since you get fingers, it is best for when working on tools or creating things that you normally couldn't achieve in your primal form. This form as greater strength then the primal form, but it takes a while to full complete the transformation and you loose the speed that comes with using all four legs.
Neither is better then the other, it just depends on what you are doing and who you are. Some wolves never leave their primal forms, and others once shifted decided that they can't live with out having opposable thumbs. However, most just change according to their needs verses the worth of the pain and time it takes to change. Nothing is right or wrong when it comes to choosing between shifting or staying primal.
We had a debate about how the shifting styles are, and in the end its pick and choose what is most conformable for you. Here is a quote i took from the debate that explains really well the different styles of shifting. But the one constant is that all ways take an equally long time and strain the body.

"There are the kind, such as the werewolf, where the body changes painfully and clothing is usually destroyed, this shifter is also usually the type that changes unwillingly. The second type of shifter is the type that changes because they want to, this shifter's form folds over the body, resulting with absolutely no clothing destroyed. Example being: legend of Zelda; twilight princess. The third type of shifting more convenient for those who choose to change shape rather quickly, this is the type that basically has two forms and they can switch between the forms. I believe this type of shifting is used in Harry Potter. This type of shifters does not loose clothing when they switch to their second forms."-Hadrian

However, on the full moon every wolf changes to their primal form. It is a forced transformation that also comes with very different emotions then when normally changing. The wolves become giddy and overly confident and just overall filled with some sort of natural high. Even rival packs are willing to spend this night with each other howling at the moon and dancing in the goddess glen till the moon goes to rest. Most don't remember what happens that night.
A similar event happens on the night when the moon is vanished completely. All wolves are forced to change into humans* and they experience that same feeling of pleasure staring up at all the stars from around a large bon fire in the goddess glen.

:x: COMMUNICATION;
primal wolf = shifted wolf.
they can understand each other no matter what, because in the end they are both have "wolf brains"

primal wolf > spider.
Primal wolves can understand anything a shifted wolf says and vise versa. However, if they are in primal it takes a spider that has been around wolves to really understand. so it just depends on the spider really. If the spider lived its whole life in the city and never met a wolves before, they would not understand a word... so should they get captured someone would be appointed as a translator and shift up to be able to explain things to the spider.

:x: WEAPONS AND HONOR;
Wolves do not believe in using weapons during battle. If one tried, it would be considered cowardice, and shameful.

:x: THE IMPORTANCE OF A PACK;
Wolves function best as a pack, admitted that there are dysfunctional packs- but in general 9/10 wolves would prefer to live in a tribal unit- dysfunctional or not. That is how they hunt, that is how they fight, that is how they survived the spiders. Now, not everyone is a leader, and not everyone knows how to join a pack, so the best place you could go if you don't know where to go is to Forlorn Thicket. But there are some downfalls to going there. first off you don't know who will accept you and there is no choice in the mater of who is your alpha. The only way to escape the pack that first claims you is to either wait out two seasons to pass and try again, or hope that another pack will fight come and fight for you. But a lone wolf usually is a dead wolf in this world, so you get one season to hope that someone picks you to be in their group or you could be taken as a captive by the spiders because of weakness and being an easy target.
